Kao and Her See Vue immigrated to Sydney, Australia, in 1989. Their love of farming, nature, and a peaceful way of life eventually led them north to the small town of Innisfail in 1996.

Their farming journey began with the purchase of a 40-acre farm in Nerada. Through years of hard work, dedication, and perseverance, they established a successful and sustainable farm. As the family grew and their success continued, they expanded their operations with the purchase of another 40-acre block in Garradunga.

Today, the Vue Family farms a total of 150 acres, continuing a legacy built on family, hard work, and a deep connection to the land.

For us, farming is more than just a job — it is a way of life. We are passionate about what we do and take great pride in producing the highest-quality produce possible. We believe that supporting local agriculture not only strengthens our community but also contributes to a more sustainable future.

Resilience Through Diversification

Success in farming does not come without its challenges. The devastation caused by Cyclones Larry, Yasi, and Jasper had significant impacts on the local banana industry, highlighting the uncertainty and risks that come with farming in North Queensland.

Understanding the challenges posed by cyclones, the Vue Family made the decision to diversify their crops. Alongside bananas, they began growing turmeric, galangal, and taro — crops that grow underground and are less vulnerable to the destructive winds of cyclones.

Diversification has played an important role in helping the family’s farms remain sustainable and viable through challenging times. It has allowed the Vue Family to adapt, grow, and continue doing what they love — farming the land and producing quality, locally grown produce for the community.
